Hannah’s 10 Bargain Shopping Tips…
1. Make a goal to spend less than $10 on every item you buy. (Sound hard? Its not…)
2. DO NOT make name-brand stores your first stop. Believe it or not Target offers good quality, fashionable clothes for a fraction of the prices you’d see at places like Express and The Limited. (That is not to say Hannah doesn’t love these stores… She does.)
3. Start at places like TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshall’s and other clearanced stores. (I purchased several American Eagle, Express and Hollister items at a fraction of their normal prices at stores like these.)
4. Ok, even at bargain stores like these, start at the clearance rack first, and make your way up to the more expensive stuff…
5. Try and create outfits as you go. DO NOT simply buy something because you like it. Consider how it will work with things you already own, or recently purchased. (After all you don’t want a random pair of plaid knickers lying around looking cute but being unwearable…)
6. DO NOT buy things that you aren’t in love with. If you sort of like something, its likely it won’t leave your closet and fulfill its purchase value. (If you’re like me at all, if your mom likes something and you hate it, you’ll buy it anyway to appease her… DO NOT do it!)
7. Accessorize for less! While at the afore-mentioned stores, check out the purses, shoes and jewelry. Accessories are the perfect way to spice up your outfit and draw attention to your look.
8. Be you-nique. Try and create your own look, don’t follow a fad. Fashion is about individuality, have fun with it! If you love something and it’s a little unorthodox, make it your own. Work it! ^_~
9. Buy clothes that FIT! Do not be ashamed to wear a medium (I do. And I weigh in at about 109.). Your clothes don’t have to hug every pimple on your… Y’know. Clothing does not have to be skin-tight to be attractive. Leaving a bit about your body to question adds to your allure. (This is mostly for women/girls… Modesty rules!!!)
10. Lastly if you’re satisfied with your purchases and you have a bit of cash and personal vanity left over. Go to your name-brand markets and go crazy. ^^;
So, maybe you’re wondering exactly how I fared with my budget and stuff. Here are the items I managed to purchase on my spending diet…

2 Jackets
5 Tees/ Tanks/ Undershirts
1 Pair of Shoes

And the company names attached to these purchases include Express, Levi’s, American Eagle, Hollister, Ralph Lauren, The Limited, Poof!, Enzo Angiolini and Old Navy.
Hope your next shopping venture goes as well as mine!
Yours,
Makoto and Makoto’s Mom
